How Sad…

What happened in New Orleans last year was a natural living and social disaster.
There’s this one guy - Prince Campbell (aka Chartreuse) you might have heard of him - who decided he wanted to know more about what was going on down there.
He got together a group of fellow friends and associates and sent them down there into the heartland of the affected areas with video cameras and with a mission: to talk to the people on the street and see what’s going on in the Big Easy. They’ve been and done that and now the video’s are slowly coming out.
So when he posts about the initial video at his influential blog I’m amazed, shocked and appalled that it recieved a measly 6 comments.
That’s okay, I guess - unless you look at the next post - about skanky, silly Paris Hilton … and that recieved 107 fucking comments (although a fair bit of it was mere rubbish from some shameless Aussie wacho shmuck doing a poor job of linkbaiting).
Goes to show what’s really important in the world.
BTW, the video was one you need to watch - it covered lots of angles. I love this sort of citizen documentary - there’s lots going for it and I will also be highlighting other online docu’s that catch my interest - there’s one called Lucidity that I’m hoping to highlight here - Jessica, you listening? :)
I’ll be doing a feature piece on this New Orleans initiative ( I call it a documentary post where I gather all the videos and posts and lay it out to you in one go - with my own commentary).
One guy I must tip my hat off to for the wonderful things he did during this whole exercise is Loren Feldman over at 1938 Media. This guy is a typically raw New Yorker who speaks his mind and does it with gusto. I love his style. Check out his YouTube portfolio…
Chartreuse, Loren and the gang - so far, a job well done.

Loren … I give credit where credit is due - and this has obviously been one huge undertaking - just keep doing what you’re doing, mate - I simply love citizen documentaries and I think you’re right therr in the frontline of it all.

Hi Martin… I’m listening :) Thank you.
Although your link is not showing up in my dashboard. I just come here to read most days (everyday) and read “…Lucidity…” wow. Pings and trackbacks are not working so well on m blog :(
And hats off to the New Orleans documentaries. They are so good. I am waiting ’til the end to comment on them. I guess I just made a comment.
