Jurgen Klopp Disappointed with Lack of January Signings So Far

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says that the club has been working extremely hard behind-the-scenes in order to strengthen the squad in the January transfer window.

However, he has surprisingly claimed that it has been very difficult to attract players to Anfield. It comes as a surprising statement considering that the club are challenging for the league title this season. Liverpool have slipped in recent weeks with goals against the likes of Sunderland and Manchester United before losing against Swansea this weekend, and one of the important reasons appears to be the absence of Sadio Mane.

The Senegalese international is away on international duty at the 2017 African cup of Nations. An early exit from the competition for Senegal would help Mane return back from international duty as soon as possible. Even though it may take him on the couple of weeks in order to hit the ground running, Mane’s return would be a major boost. Aware that the club are too dependent on the £34 million signing, Klopp has admitted that January signings may be possible at Anfield. Read Full Post…

This is the debut season of Carlo Ancelotti as the head coach of a top German club and even though the Bundesliga doesn’t start until August 27, Ancelotti has already added a new piece of silverware to his collection after defeating their rivals Borussia Dortmund in the finals of German Super Cup which concluded with Bayern Munich claiming a 2-0 triumph.

Arturo Vidal and Thomas Muller scored the only 2 goals of the match as Carlo Ancelotti lifted a trophy in his first competitive game as the head coach of Bayern Munich.

“We’re happy, of course it was difficult and Dortmund played very, very well but things worked much better for us after the break and this gives us some self-confidence for the Bundesliga. This team is already very, very strong.” Carlo Ancelotti said as he voiced his delight in winning his first title with Bayern Munich.

Even though it was Bayern Munich that came out on top with the victory, they struggled to control the match during the opening minutes and it was actually Borussia Dortmund that almost scored first with Aubameyang and Dembele launching shots against Manuel Neuer but the veteran shot-stopped stopped both shots from entering his net. Jon Moss had as poor a day yesterday

Jon Moss had as poor a day yesterday as a match referee can have on a Football pitch.

It’s safe to say that it was his decisions which drove the match rather than the players’ skills.

But, still, neither of the two managers, whose teams were involved in the game, came up with critical remarks against him.

Claudio Ranieri just avoided commenting on the issue at all and left it upon others to form an opinion.

Slaven Bilic, on the other hand, was vocal in the fact that Moss’s last decision that is to provide the Foxes with a penalty kick snatched the match out of the Hammers’ hands, but, he added that it’s normal for the referees to be influenced by thousands and thousands of public screaming around them demanding a decision in their favour.

According to Bilic, from Moss’s perspective, the fact that some of his earlier calls in the game had displeased the spectators supporting Leicester, he might have looked to balance it out with that penalty to the hosts. But, that’s where one has to go a little easy on match officials as coping with the pressure of the home crowd anywhere in England is hard. Read Full Post…

Don Garber finds it quite unwise of Bruce Arena to come out intensely

Don Garber finds it quite unwise of Bruce Arena to come out intensely taking side of his playmaker Nigel De Jong.

Arena has recently accused the media as well as the administrators in the American League of having an agenda against De Jong.

Arena believes that particular incident which happened in the Timbers match on 10th of April, it was stretched a bit too long and the only reason for that was the involvement of De Jong in it. There was no chance of it receiving as much attention as it did if any other player had been involved.

Terming Arena’s accusation absolutely baseless and absurd, Garber has stressed that all the decisions are made in complete fairness in the Major League Soccer and there is no such thing as partiality. It’s just that the tackle made by De Jong was a bit too rough and it’s only due to it that he was punished.

What is surprising is that Arena himself, being one of the most knowledgeable persons in American Football, has always spoken for the removal of careless tackles and now he has taken a different stand. However, according to Garber, that might be because he is the manager and it’s his duty to back his player. Read Full Post…

Christian Benteke accused Jurgen for Ignoring him

Christian Benteke has accused Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp of consistently ignoring him.

The future of the Belgian international is under doubt following poor performances ever since his £ 30 million move to Anfield in the summer. Benteke was a regular scorer at Aston Villa, but many were sceptical about the possibility of his success at Merseyside. After all, he was similar in playing style to Andy Carroll and the former Newcastle man did not succeed. The critics have been proven right with Benteke managing less than 10 goals in 33 appearances for the club.

Klopp never seems to have warmed up to the striker. Benteke has managed to start only five of the 16 games that Klopp has managed. It is a lot about the manager’s interest in the forward. Liverpool will be ready to cut their losses in the summer and sell him for around £ 20 million with West Ham being rumoured to be a potential destination. Benteke revealed that he came close to leaving the club in January, but chose to stay and fight for his place. His miss against Southampton in the 3-2 loss has only angered Klopp even more. Benteke is now unlikely to start reminder of the campaign even if he manages to impress the boss in training. Read Full Post…
