The Blog Columnist - House Moving Edition
January 29, 2007 2:03 pm UncategorizedWelcome to the first ever (and hopefully last) House Moving Edition of The Blog Columnist.
Yup, I’m moving house. With that comes a move for my internet connection - which is a bitch because it takes time and that’s where they add on all those little extra fees!!!
That, and I’m doing the move by myself with family ie: I”ve been moving house in a hired truck for the last 3 days … AND I AM BLOODY TIRED TO THE EXTREME!!!
And now I’m typing this post on the floor (like a dog) in my former empty house, with only an echo of my voice for company, some pizza and beers, a tv and nothing else.
So … some picks and short commentary of a few choice posts going around the blogging world that caught my interest - they might just yours …
- 901am’s David Krug goes into detail on linkbait - An Introduction To Linkbait - which caught my attention because it was well written and thought out.
- Amit Agarwal writing at Digital Inspiration writes about Getting Noticed by A-list bloggers vs Getting on Digg Front Pages - and he hits the mark.
- Anita Campbell from Small Biz Trends directs me to StudioDell - a bunch of ongoing, short videos (very good quality) from Dell. StudioDell comes in three categories: Home, Small Business and IT Pro. Very impressive indeed.
- The blogosphere’s copywriter, Brian Clark, does his usual nifty work with a linkbait attempt (and complete success) with his comments asking Linkbaiting: Vote Yes or No This Week Only - read the 60+ and growing comments (mine included) as that’s were the action is. My view: The term “linkbaiting” is here to stay - even though it conjures up negative tactics for me. But that’s just me: seems the collective blogosphere has firmly fixed “linkbaiting” in the unofficial B’sphere’s Dictionary of Buzwords.

And finally, fellow Aussie (sometime Canadian) Yaro Starak has a beauty of a 5-post series discussing blogging as a business and its sustainability:
That’s all folks for a few days here - I’ll catch ya later on in the week.
PS. you may see this blogs’ theme a bit screwy. I was playing with the css file and I fucked up something, somewhere. I’ll have it all polished up when my house moving adventures are over.

Thanks for the kind words. Hopefully will continue a bit of momentum around this topic.

Hey Dave - no problems. I’ve read so many posts over the years so when I come across something good (as your piece did) I gotta spread it to my audience. :-)
Keep it up.
